Education
Education is vital for the future of evey society. Many children in Burundi cannot go to school because of their families' poor background. CCW assists some of these children by providing them with school material or school fees.
Relevance:
A number of challenges and problems faced by Burundians are mainly due to ignorance and lack of good and competent leadership rather than to poverty. Hence, there is an urgent need to support our nation in matter of education. Currently, just 56% of Burundian children complete primary school education and only 17% of them attend secondary schools (UNESCO). Most of those, who drop out of school, cannot afford to continue their studies. Although primary school education is officially for free, parents still have to pay for school uniforms, stationary and other school items.

Activities and Objectives:
CCW wants to help children in their quest to acquire knowledge and develop their talents. We therefore distribute much needed school materials to children from poor families or pay their school fees. CCW has furthermore the vision establish its own school, in which young people acquire konwledge and skills that make them persons of integrity and responsible future leaders. Based on Burundi’s conflict-prone history, we plan to integrate the subject of peace education into the school syllabus so that we can nurture a generation of future peace builders.

Achievements:
CCW has already provided school materials (copy books, pens, pencils, books, etc.) to more than a hundred children from various provinces.
Up til now, CCW provided 5 children from impoverished families with school fees. We took for example two orphans (from Muramvya and Kayanza Province), who used to be street children, to school. Now they are doing primary school studies and CCW still supports them in their education. We came to realise that they are brilliant at school despite their poor background.
